Hi Joel,
Citeline (and the underlying Exhibit tool for display) have some support for non-Latin characters,
see
http://simile.mit.edu/wiki/Citeline_FAQ#Does_Citeline_support_diacritics_and_special_characters.3F
We know that non-Latin support is very poor and I wish we could fix it, but we lack for resources to work on it this year. Sorry!

Subject: Citeline question
Greetings,
I was playing around with Citeline, to see if it would be a suitable tool
for me to use. I notice, however, that non-Latin characters (from simple
accented Latin vowels, to non-Latin letters) have been replaced with
question marks. I've checked my .bib file, and there's no problem there.
Does Citeline support non- or extended-Latin alphabets?
Thanks,
jk
