Ok, that might just be the way the java plugin works... it's been a
while since I ran windows and definately nothing close to java 1.5.

Ok, there is clearly something wrong and I think I have an idea of what
it is.

If you look here http://simile.mit.edu/issues/browse/PIGGYBANK-37 this
bug reports the same problem, it also indicates the full path to the
firefox profile, can you give me that one too? The reporter for that bug
has his last name that contains a non-ASCII character, that might
trigger the 'sun.net.www.ParseUtil.decode' exception that cascades into
the top exception.

Can you give me the full path to your firefox profile?

It should be somewhere like

  C:\Documents and Settings/[your user id]/Application
Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/[random number].[profile name]

I guess what it boils down to is to know what your window user ID is.
