Requirements

Before downloading, please note that Appalachian is designed to work with the Firefox 2.x versions only. We are exploring the use of the SQLite embedded database, which is not yet a stable feature in Firefox, so future versions are highly suspect for potential incompatibilities. Older versions will not work at all.

You should think about setting up an OpenID before installing this add-on.

Download and Install

If you meet the requirements, click the following link to install.

If this is your first time installing a SIMILE add-on, Firefox's security feature will probably block the installation because the installing site is unfamiliar. The top of your browser will roll in the following message:

Click on the Edit Options... button. In the dialog that pops up, click Allow, then Close and try the installation link above again.

Next, Firefox will ask you to verify that you do want to install the software; click Install Now to move on.

The file will then download and, when the process is complete, the add-ons window will pop up; you can hit Restart Firefox to shut down and re-open your browser if you're ready to do so immediately, or you can close the window and restart Firefox later.

Once Firefox has been restarted, the Appalachian icon will be present in your status bar in the bottom right of your browser window. If all went well, clicking on it will produce the following welcome screen:

Now that you've installed Appalachian, it's time to start adding your OpenIDs.
