Introduction
Blue Ox is an IRC bot that tries to help out the Simile project's channel. Blue OX is also known as Babe. Blue OX logs the conversation in the channel. The resulting logs are public, but we have the robots.txt file configured so they ought not be indexed by search engines. Note that Blue OX is a hobby for it's author, Ben, and as such it's would be a mistake to presume anything about it's quality, durablity, etc.
Usage
Babe has two user interfaces. One is on the web [1], and one is via it's persona in the IRC channel.
In IRC you may chat with it privately or in the #simile room.
- <direct-command> : "babe: " <simple-command>
- <simple-command> :<refresh> | <opme> | <search-request>
- <refresh> : "refresh your knowledge of the wiki"
- <opme> : "opme"
- <search-request> : <words>+
In the room it accepts direct-commands, while privately it accepts those as well as simple-commands
The <search-request> does a simple text search over words pulled from the wiki's page labels and any glossary definitions found on those pages.
The <refresh> command is used to get the bot to reload data sets.
The <opme> command will attempt to give to add +o to the sender's mode, presuming blue-ox has +o, and the sender is in blue-ox's good graces.
