This is a list of online demonstrations of Longwell and its ability to be heavily configured and tailored to specific needs.

Feel free to add your own publicly accessible Longwell demos here. If you do, please explain the nature of the data, something about how it was obtained, perhaps with pointers to code or scrapers, and any Fresnel configuration you might be using. Thanks

Libraries

The MIT Libraries demo includes data from the MIT DSpace instance, the Barton catalog, and MIT's OpenCourseWare Project. The data was made available to us in various forms - DSpace through OAI, Barton through MARC XML, and OCW through their own XML.

The Longwell configuration for this demo can be found at [1].

DWell (DSpace in Longwell)

DWell is a Longwell configuration that was prepared to show how to use SIMILE's OAI-PMH RDFizer to harvest instances of DSpace repositories and transform the DSpace metadata into an RDF representation that is then presented to the user using special Fresnel lenses.

The Longwell configuration for this demo, along with instructions on how to harvest your DSpace and produce RDF metadata, can be found at [2].

CSS

The CSS filters demo takes data from tables of CSS filters and the browsers they work or fail in, found at centricle.com and dithered.com. The data was scraped using the various CSS filter scrapers listed, thanks to Solvent. This also required formulating a vocabulary for the data and manually finding some equivalencies of browsers across the two datasets.

The Longwell configuration for this demo can be found at [3].

Atom/OWL

The Atom/OWL collection demo is an aggregation of Atom feeds and entries retrieved from the list of known Atom feeds found in the original Atom wiki. The data was transformed using Henry Story's XQuery to Atom/OWL and filtered through some rules before reaching its present state.

The Longwell configuration for this demo, including the Fresnel lenses, can be found at [4].
