The Simile Dev team is pleased to announce the availability of Piggy
Bank 2.1.1.
As usual, get it from
http://simile.mit.edu/piggy-bank/
No functionality was added during this minor release but several
important bugs were fixed:
1) now Piggy Bank is able to support all charsets in Unicode 3 and
uses UTF-8 as the standard content encoding, this fixes all the char
encoding issues that were reported.
2) because of mismatch between n3 and turtle syntaxes, Piggy Bank now
uses RDF/XML by default to communicate to the banks.
3) fixed some escaping problems with URIs and literals containing
ampersands (&) that caused firefox to trigger HTML parsing violations
that caused problems without giving user feedback.
NOTE: there are still issues with URIs that contain ' (single quote) and
" (double quote). No easy and definitive fix was found, as this touches
deeply the way Longwell operates. For now, easiest workaround is to
avoid using ' and " in URIs.
4) Removed the "Persist" button that caused confusion. Now you can
"save" an item locally or "publish" it a remote bank. "Persist" (that
has been renamed "Deposit") might come back once we implement
authentication and isolation features inside Semantic Bank.
5) When a collected item is saved, more prominent (colored) feedback
is given.
Enjoy and see you at Galway next week for ISWC 2005.
